SOLICITOR
Maria was admitted as a Solicitor by the Supreme Court of NSW in October 2020. Maria works across all practice areas of the firm with a particular interest in discrimination law, human rights law and employment law.
Prior to joining Harmers Workplace Lawyers, Maria worked as a Tipstaff/Researcher to his Honour Judge D. Russell SC at the Dust Diseases Tribunal of NSW and the District Court of NSW.
Maria holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of New South Wales. During her legal studies, Maria volunteered at the Aboriginal Legal Service and the Homeless Persons’ Legal Service, completed an Aurora Project internship and clerked at a plaintiff law firm. Maria was also fortunate to complete an offshore unit in Norway as part of her Juris Doctor studies. Maria has contributed to volunteer research and submission projects for the Australian Law Reform Commission, Australian Lawyers for Human Rights and NSW Young Lawyers. Additionally, Maria previously worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Sydney in the discrimination law area.
Outside of her work at Harmers, Maria has served as the Chair of the NSW Young Lawyers Human Rights Sub-Committee since 2021 working with other young professionals to raise awareness about human rights issues and provide comment on legislative and policy changes at both federal and State levels. Maria has also been a Member and Young Lawyers Representative on the Human Rights Committee of the Law Society of NSW since 2021.
Maria was awarded the 2022 NSW Young Lawyer of the Year Award in recognition of her contributions to the legal profession and wider community.
