Afif Haque

Afif graduated from the Australian National University (ANU) in 2021 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Economics.

Prior to joining Harmers, Afif was a Legal Researcher at KPMG in the Government Relations practice where he provided foreign and domestic legislative review and analysis and facilitated interfacing between private and public sector entities. He also worked in the Economics team and developed a keen understanding of labour market dynamics and its intersection with the legal system.

During his studies, Afif volunteered as a paralegal at the Legal Aid Employment Clinic where he assisted clients seeking advice and assistance in relation to employment matters. Afif also volunteered at the Youth Law Centre where he engaged with a broader subject matter, including discrimination and consumer law. The development of his practical skills in these roles allowed him to win the ANU GDLP Client Interview Competition in 2019. Whilst at ANU, Afif was also the President of the ANU Volunteering Society, ANU’s largest registered student society, and the Vice President of Finance of the ANU Law Students’ Society.

Afif joined Harmers as a summer clerk in December 2019, and worked as a paralegal while he completed his studies at ANU. Afif currently works across all the firm’s practice areas for both corporate and individual clients. His areas of interest include employment contracts and restraint of trade, workplace investigations, industrial relations, and anti-discrimination matters.
