Hannah Nesbitt

SENIOR ASSOCIATE

Hannah joined Harmers Workplace Lawyers in 2020 as a newly admitted Solicitor and is currently a Senior Associate. She is involved in all areas of the firm’s practice, with particular expertise in advising both employers and employees on issues related to sexual harassment, discrimination, general protections, unfair dismissal, and workplace investigations. Hannah has also handled complex and significant litigation before Tribunals and Courts at both State and Federal levels, including up to final hearings at first instance and on appeal, and has travelled interstate as the instructing solicitor for certain matters.

By advising both employers and employees, Hannah has developed a well-rounded understanding of employment law, allowing her to anticipate issues from both perspectives and provide clear, practical, and effective legal advice. Hannah is well known for her client-centric approach, providing empathetic support and tailored legal solutions.

Hannah earned her Bachelor of Laws (with Distinction) from the University of Wollongong and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 2020. During her studies, she received multiple academic accolades, including first-place results in Employment Law, Labour Regulation, Human Rights Law, and Shipping Law. She was also awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for her stellar Higher School Certificate results, recognized on the Dean’s Merit List for Outstanding Academic Achievement, and received the Harmers Workplace Lawyers Prize for Employment Law.

Committed to continuous professional development, Hannah plays an active role in the firm’s CPD training committee, conducts legal research on employment law updates, and has co-authored several publications. She also coordinates the drafting of the Australian section of our monthly L&E Global cross-border labour and employment law publication, which is designed to keep employers (ranging from emerging businesses seeking to set up international operations to multinational corporations), stay up-to-date on the latest global workplace trends.

Additionally, Hannah is a highly regarded mentor for the firm’s junior practitioners and currently supervises and manages the firm’s paralegal team. Drawing on her experience as a former school and university student tutor before starting her legal career, Hannah is passionate about imparting her ever-evolving knowledge and expertise to junior team members, ensuring they feel well supported in their roles, and fostering their growth and development in the industry.

Outside of her work at the firm, Hannah enjoys walking, traveling, spending quality time with her partner and family, and has a keen interest in interior design, fashion, and travel planning.
